India’s Stellar Performance at International Olympiads 2024

Men’s Team Triumph

The Indian men’s team displayed exceptional form throughout the tournament, winning 27 of their 44 games, losing just once and drawing six. Their final round of matches was against Slovenia, whom they defeated 3.5-0.5. The team’s performance was particularly impressive given the absence of Viswanathan Anand, who was not part of the Indian squad for this Olympiad.

Women’s Team Dominance

The Indian women’s team also showcased brilliant chess, winning all their matches to finish at the top of the standings. Their final round win against Azerbaijan was a convincing 3.5-0.5 victory. The team’s success is a testament to the growing strength of women’s chess in India.

A Historic Double

This is a historic achievement for Indian chess. It is the first time that India has won gold medals in both the men’s and women’s events at the Chess Olympiad.

The win is also a major boost for Indian chess. It will help to inspire more young people to take up the game, and it will put India on the map as a chess superpower.
