Ms.Monica Thongam Nakra is a government certified Psychologist and a seasoned educator working for more than 17 and half years in the field of mental health and presently serving as an Assistant Professor in Lingaya’s Vidyapeeth. She started her journey by pursuing Bachelor’s in Psychology from HNB Garhwal University (Central University). She completed her MA in Psychology (Clinical) from HNB Garhwal University (Central University), MSc in Psychotherapy & Psychological Counselling in 2008 from IPMS, Mumbai. In order to consolidate her knowledge, she completed her Bachelor of Education Central University. In addition to it, she pursued Foundation Course in Special Education from Bhoj University, Madhya Pradesh, Certificate Course in Psychological First Aid (John Hopkins University) and Certificate in Teaching of English in 2010 from IGNOU.

She has worked in various profiles as special educator and mental health counsellors in different reputed organizations like Bajaj Institute of Technology, DIT University, Tender Heart. In addition to it she has worked and volunteered in various mental health platforms like Counsel India and Astro Talk as Panel Psychologist and Consultant Psychologist. In her entire career, she has wholeheartedly provided counselling to youth suffering from various mental health conditions like Major Depression, Bipolar Disorder, Schizophrenia, Addiction Issues and have provided emergency services for issues like Suicidality, Homicidally and Sexual Assault. She had volunteered closely with psychiatrist, psychologists, clinical social workers and other mental health professionals to organize workshops, conduct lectures and classes regularly in psychology topics, as faculty advisors of Student Clubs of the University, Official Member of the Student Consultative Committee of the University, Official Member of the Girls Hostel Special Committee of the University and Official Member of the Women’s Welfare Cell. In order to further serve the society, she has registered with the Rehabilitation Council of India.

She is also a Lifetime Member of the Counsellors Council of India, Life Associate Member of Society for Addiction Psychology and American Psychological Association, Teacher Member. She has always made herself available at the time of Covid-19 in RCI as Mental Health Counsellor (Online Mental Health Support), Volunteered at Fight against Covid at Step One and as professional mental health counsellor at National Commission for Women at New Delhi. Moving forward, she has submitted her Ph.D. in psychology from Manav Rachna International Institute of Research and Studies, Faridabad. She is looking forward to educate the youth of today by guiding them on ways to live an efficient and fulfilling life which is enriching for them as well as the society.
