UGC Notice: Participation in the Jal Sanchay Jan Bhagidari Initiative

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has issued a notice inviting all higher education institutions to actively participate in the Jal Sanchay Jan Bhagidari Initiative, a national-level campaign aimed at promoting water conservation across India. This initiative encourages institutions to engage students and faculty in meaningful efforts to address the water scarcity crisis by promoting rainwater harvesting, sustainable water management practices, and public awareness.

As part of the initiative, universities and colleges are encouraged to participate by conducting activities such as:

  • Building and maintaining water conservation structures like ponds, wells, and recharge pits.
  • Organizing awareness campaigns, workshops, and seminars on sustainable water use.
  • Promoting rainwater harvesting practices on campus and in local communities.

Institutions are also requested to document their contributions by providing specific details of their participation, which include:

  • Latitude and longitude coordinates of water conservation structures.
  • Photographs showcasing the identified, ongoing, and completed projects.
  • Detailed information on the progress of the structures.

These details are to be submitted to UGC, showcasing each institution’s commitment to preserving water resources.
